Kolog Nigeria Limited is committed to conducting all waste management operations in a manner that protects the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the general public, while minimising our impact on the environment. We regard health, safety, and environmental (HSE) performance as a core business priority, equal in importance to operational efficiency and customer service.
Our Commitments
Comply with all applicable health, safety, and environmental legislation, regulations, and standards, including LAWMA operational guidelines and Lagos State environmental laws.
Provide and maintain safe working conditions, equipment, and vehicles for all employees and contractors.
Ensure all personnel receive appropriate HSE training, induction, and ongoing competency development.
Identify, assess, and control workplace hazards through regular risk assessments and proactive safety measures.
Maintain emergency response procedures for incidents including spills, vehicle accidents, and workplace injuries.
Minimise waste-to-landfill through our recycling and material recovery operations, diverting recyclable materials from disposal.
Prevent pollution and reduce environmental impact across all collection, transportation, and processing activities.
Regularly review and improve HSE performance through audits, inspections, and management review.
Employee Responsibilities
Every employee of Kolog Nigeria Limited has a personal responsibility to:
Follow all safety procedures, work instructions, and use provided personal protective equipment (PPE).
Report hazards, near-misses, and incidents immediately to their supervisor or the HSE coordinator.
Participate in safety training and toolbox talks as scheduled.
Refuse to carry out any task they believe to be unsafe until the concern has been properly addressed.
Maintain clean and organised work areas, vehicles, and equipment.
Incident Reporting
All workplace incidents, injuries, near-misses, and environmental incidents must be reported within 24 hours. Incident investigations are conducted to identify root causes and implement corrective actions. Kolog maintains a no-blame reporting culture — the purpose of reporting is to prevent recurrence, not to assign fault.
Review and Continuous Improvement
This policy is reviewed annually by management and updated as necessary to reflect changes in legislation, operations, or best practice. HSE performance is monitored through regular internal audits and management review meetings.
Effective Date: This policy is effective from the date of publication and applies to all employees, contractors, and subcontractors of Kolog Nigeria Limited.
